Very long day today, but Min Min is really having a wonderful time. She just loved the Great Wall and proudly made it all the way to the top this morning; then she counted 1,732 steps on the way down (when I saw her near the bottom, she asked me not to talk to her because she was still counting). Some of the parents who did make it to the top (I did not) unequivocally said that Min Min got the "most enthusiastic award" among the children in our group. She wanted to get a tee-shirt with the Great Wall painted on it, and the vendor wrote her name, the date, "China," and "Beijing" on the side along with a chop for "dragon" (he said that was his name and he didn't even know she was a dragon).
We stopped at a jade factory and she loved looking at everything there. After lunch, we stopped for a stroll at the Olympic venue in front of the "Bird's Nest", and she told me that this was "really cool.".
She is very, very happy with the trip. We visited a hutong in rickshaws this afternoon and had tea with a family...Min Min asked some questions.
She loved the
acrobatics show this evening, and we had dinner out after that (as part
of the tour).
It was a very long day.
